Articles About Barber Half Dollars

The Barber Half Dollar was minted from 1892 through 1915.  It was designed by  United States Bureau of the Mint Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber.  The name of the coin came from the designer.  Most would say that the Barber coinage was not the most artistically pleasing, but the coins heavily used.  What Barber lacked in artistic design was made up for in a design that would wear very well.  The Barber Half Dollar was replaced by the Walking Liberty Half in 1916.
